Co-Ed Infantry Cadet Unit catering to the age groups of 9yrs-18yrs for Cadets & 18yrs+ for Adults. Our Historic fighting Regiment is the Royal Frontiersmen 25th Fusiliers, Behobeho, who won battle honours in WW1 at Kilimanjaro, Nyangao & Bukoba in East Africa 1915-1917. A great many Legion Members gave their lives in war and some 1,500 Frontiersmen fell whilst serving with the ANZAC's at Gallipoli. In 1906 the Legion Council was granted official recognition by the British War Dept & recognition by the Dept of Defense in Australia & New Zealand followed in 1907. Legion History: Our history dates back to 1904 when an ex- mounted Policeman in Canada who served in the Boer War in South Africa, by the name of Captain Roger Pocock, established the Legion of Frontiersmen in London. The Slouch Hat is issued for a small fee. Day Camps & Overnight camps held throughout the year. Cadets & Instructors are issued the current army "AUSCAM" pattern uniform free on enlistment. Currently we meet Wednesday Nights from 7:00pm-9:15pm at Golden Grove High School, Adey Place Golden Grove and on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm-9:15pm at Elizabeth Grove Primary School Haynes Rd Elizabeth Grove SA, Wednesday Nights at Ft Glanville .All Officers & Instructors are fully Police Cleared and a female chaperone is present at all times. The SA Legion Cadets originated in 1987 and since then, have met weekly for Parading & Training. Costs: $40 per year Cadets & Instructors; $20 per year Associate Members/Pensioner. Topics taught include: Drill, Self Discipline, Bush Survival Skills, Navigation, Self Defense, Techniques, Search & Rescue, Radio Communications, First Aid, Rifle Drill, and Teamwork. (more).
